Vacancy Details

DESCRIPTION/SYNOPSYS:

  • Well established plastic manufacturer requires an experienced professional to join their company as a Maintenance Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible to fully support factory operations with regards to maintaining all assets. The incumbent will be responsible for leading maintenance systems, overseeing the continuous improvement of the manufacturing process and executing long-term strategic plans. The incumbent furthermore shall ensure execution of all activities related to repair, maintenance, and installation of machines/tools/equipment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Grade 12
  2. BEng or BTech degree in Engineering (Electrical or mechanical)
  3. Experience in plastic/packaging/container industry will be a distinct advantage
  4. Valid Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) will be a plus
  5. Qualification in maintenance planning would be advantageous
  6. Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a maintenance management role
  7. Experience as a GMR2(1) appointment is a must
  8. Proven experience in planning maintenance operations is a must
  9. Experience within MRP/ERP systems is a must
  10. Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, mechanical, gas, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  11. Outstanding organisational and leadership abilities
  12. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  13. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively
  14. High level of respect towards employees from different backgrounds
  15. Results driven approach to achieving tasks and objectives
  16. Embrace Quality and can easily inspire passion among his team

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Health, Safety and Environmental:

  • Ensure compliance in accordance with OHSA
  • Identify risks and draw up procedures to mitigate any potential dangers/hazards
  • Conduct regular toolbox talks on factory relevant topics
  • Review procedural standards on a regular basis and brief all department staff
  • Ensure all department employees visit the clinic timelessly as per schedule
  • Conduct and chair monthly safety meetings
  • Ensure all firefighting, forklift, overhead crane training is performed when required

Risk Management

  1. Develop action plan to alleviate risks as per yearly Insurance Risk Report
  2. Monitor site utilities (water, gas, electricity) and develop action plan to alleviate any potential risks
  3. Equipment availability
  4. Track machine’s planned and unplanned downtime and devise action plans to increase planned maintenance and decrease unplanned (breakdown) maintenance
  5. Ensure all maintenance tasks are planned for and executed within the forecasted timeframe
  6. Ensure all plant equipment achieves the highest level of OEE and manage sustainability
  7. Maintenance productivity
  8. Schedule, train, supervise and motivate employees to perform their best
  9. Track and evaluate artisan/technician performance and devise action plan to correct poor performance.
  10. Coordinate work performed by contractors
  11. Allocate workload and manage supervision of upkeep staff (painters, builders, plumbers, garden services et
  12. Keep maintenance logs, an data and report on daily activities
  13. Factory Expenses
  14. Fully control all maintenance related expenses
  15. Be fully capable to make informed decisions in terms of maintenance cost and distinguish between business-critical repairs and non-critical business repairs
  16. Investigate, search, and implement alternative solutions to avoid exorbitant/unnecessary expenditure to better control expenses
  17. Conduct, prepare and manage tenders for site specific projects
  18. Ensure efficient repair schedules and review repair cost estimates
  19. Set up budget and control expenditure based on approved budget
  20. and properly plan maintenance and repairs of company equipment in line with operational requirements
  21. Manage and control maintenance on all lifting equipment such a s forklifts, trucks, trailers, and battery-operated equipment
  22. Developing maintenance procedures, update existing procedures and ensure implementation thereof
  23. Manage execution of planned maintenance of all company equipment
  24. Support factory with initiatives such as Kaizen improvements, PDCA, DMAIC, Fishbone, Lean Manufacturing, 5Why’s, 5S et
