Our client in the manufacture and Chemical sector is looking for a candidate to join their team:

  • Position: Warehouse and Logistics Manager Gauteng
  • Department: Logistics
  • Seniority: Professionally qualified
  • Reporting to: Branch Manager
  • Qualifications: A national qualification in logistics and warehouse management.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position.

Minimum critical competencies

  • The Warehouse Manager is responsible for managing processes involved in a supply chain and liaises with a variety of parties, including transportation companies, customers, sales representatives, and stock controllers. The Warehouse Manager is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate receipt and distribution of products. They are to ensure that all products are handled and stored correctly and distributed as per Company procedures.  All OHS Act and fire regulations must be adhered to, and stock accounted for. They provide leadership and manage performance of subordinates promoting company values, understanding service provider needs to satisfy customers’ needs.

  • Ability to plan, meeting deadlines and attention to detail, commitment, and a positive attitude whilst working in a team.

Management of Resources

  • Managers and motivates staff, ensuring compliance with company procedures and regulations.
  • Sets objectives and measures performance regularly.
  • Can take corrective/disciplinary action when required.
  • Responsible for the housekeeping and maintenance of building and garden.

Banking and Receipting

  • All cash receipt books (Drivers) must be checked weekly ensuring all money has been handed in.

Customer Focus

  • Meets customer’s expectations.
  • ISO procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO9001 policies and procedures.

Dispatching of orders

  • Co-ordination of orders for delivery.
  • Printing of the invoices (POD’s) to accompany the delivery.
  • Ensuring that no stock leaves the site without the accurate SAGE documentation.
  • Liaises with transporters re transport requirements, time required and expected loading time.
  • Maintains routes sheets/trip lists in a cost-effective manner.
  • Control management and maintenance of vehicles, including the forklift trucks.
  • Planning of loads and route sheets, and overseeing of vehicle maintenance
  • Preparation of route sheets for drivers.
  • Checking that appropriate signage is displayed, and that the vehicle is roadworthy.
  • Overseeing those vehicles are adequately maintained and
  • Responsibility to keep the fleet in good running order, serviced on time and make sure of cards road worthiness and appearance.

Stock Control

  • Maintenance of SRN register – ensuring stock accuracy.

Stock Returns

  • Checks documentation of stock returned and manages the POD and COD invoice process.

Stock Counts

  • Assists with stock counts as necessary.
  • Checking of anomalies and ensuring that the FIFO system is maintained.

 Administration

  • As per the budget, costs are controlled, variances highlighted, and over-expenditure planned.
  • Positive action to be taken to reduce costs.

Previous employment environment

  • Must have chemical and manufacturing knowledge and experience.
