Our client, the South African Sugar Association (SASA) has a permanent vacancy in their Umthombo Agricultural Financedivision for a Loans Administrator who will be based in Mount Edgecombe.

Umthombo Agricultural Finance contributes to the sustainability of small-scale grower sectors through the provision of financial services, specifically the retention savings facility and loan administration for small-scale growers in the KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, and Mpumalanga provinces of South Africa.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Umthombo Agricultural Finance Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processing of loans and savings applications received from the Mills
  • Preparing and processing system documentation for refunds
  • Analysing sundry redemptions, grower contributions and month-end cane payment redemptions for input into the cashbook
  • Reconciling month-end cane payment remittance advices from mills with deposits made directly into Umthombo’s bank account
  • Checking applications for completeness and compliance with UAF policy and Procedures
  • Liaises with the Agents and local Entities with regard to any outstanding information
  • Verification of signature on orders against the Signatures Database
  • Processing of transfers between Umthombo’s Accounts
  • Performing credit checks on applicants

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education and Experience:
  • 3-year Financial Accounting Diploma/Degree and/or relevant qualification in Accounting
  • Minimum of three year’s post qualification working experience in a debtor’s control environment

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be able to communicate in IsiZulu
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Advanced Excel is essential
  • Knowledge of Accounting computer packages would be advantageous
